Endpoint Virtualization Enabled by the Rapid Spread of CPU-Based Hardware Virtualization Technology (VT)
Integrated hardware virtualization technology (VT) is now a standard feature of the endpoint platforms shipped by Intel and AMD. Newer platforms support an even more advanced form of virtualization which features I/O virtualization. It is the strengthened degree of operating system instance separation provided by VT that indicates the greatest promise for enhanced virtualization benefits, most particularly with regard to security, performance and ease of management.
